The ankle and foot are designed to withstand huge forces during walking and running. As such, the structures that support it are required to be strong and flexible all at the same time.
Ankle injuries are commonly categorised by the kind of tissue you injure e.g. bone (fracture), ligament (sprained ankle), muscle (strain or tear), or tendon (tendinopathy or tendonitis).
Foot pain can have so many causes it is very important to have your foot pain assessed by a physio with expertise in the management of foot pain. Only then can you be confident that your foot pain treatment is managing the right cause of your foot pain.
With accurate assessment and early treatment, most ankle and foot injuries respond extremely quickly to physiotherapy allowing you to quickly resume pain-free and normal activities of daily living.
